Naveen and Mamata’s love story started through mutual friends. There was something about Naveen’s smile that stuck with Mamata, and months later, she reached out to wish him a happy birthday. One message led to another, and after getting to know each other, they finally met for lunch. That was the beginning of their beautiful journey, now seven years strong.
Mamata describes Naveen as caring, selfless, and genuinely lovely, saying that loving him felt like home. Though they come from different worlds—Naveen runs an event management company, while Mamata is a Mohiniyattam artist and dance teacher—they complement each other perfectly, like Yin and Yang, balancing each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
When it came to planning their wedding, Mamata took the reins. She carefully curated every detail, from finding the perfect venue to designing the invites, setting the menu, and creating an eco-friendly backdrop for the mantap. “I guess years of dating an event guy really paid off!” she laughs. They had an intimate Kerala-Tamil wedding amidst the lush green paddy fields of Thrissur, Kerala, and their wedding highlight video went viral, racking up close to 2 million views.
“But the true star of the show was my saree”, Mamata shares. She had searched high and low for something that was simple yet unforgettable, and she found her dream saree at RmKV. She also picked up a few other gorgeous silk and silk cotton pieces for her bridal trousseau, which she now often wears for her stage performances. “I always get so many compliments on the unique colours & designs of each piece,” she says fondly.
