The pride of Maharashtra’s weaving legacy, Paithani saris are instantly recognisable thanks to elaborate pallus and borders crafted in pure gold zari.  Raw silk threads soaked in natural dyes are woven in a simple overlap of warp and weft on a raised pitloom. The skill of the weavers is so advanced that the front and the back of a handwoven Paithani sari look the same.
