Handwoven using the traditional korvai technique, this saree features a soft peach body adorned with Kumo, graceful Japanese cloud motifs, delicately outlined in contrasting purple silk threads. The pallu offers a dramatic contrast in vivid purple, intricately woven with Baroque-inspired patterns drawn from the architectural grandeur of Tokyo’s iconic Kabuki-za Theatre and the historic Senso-ji Shrine.
Anchoring the pallu are radiant Yagasuri (arrow feather) motifs in golden zari, symbolizing good fortune and guiding movement through rhythmic repetition. The border is an ode to Mokume-gane, the traditional Japanese technique known for its wood-grain texture. Here, it inspires a cascade of chrysanthemum florals, meticulously interwoven in golden zari, paired with delicate Hishi (diamond) motifs rendered in peach silk thread.
This saree was conceptualised, designed and woven by RmKV master weavers.
