This naturally dyed silk saree is a celebration of heritage, crafted using the traditional korvai (body-border contrast) and beldari techniques. The body of the saree is a living gradient: an elegant symphony of six hues within the peach colour family, shifting from deep, bold tones to the softest blush. These harmonious shades are achieved through a meticulous blend of Lac and Sappan wood natural dyes, arranged warp-wise from light to dark and echoed in the weft. The body features a graceful grid of gradient checks, each square outlined in fine golden zari using the beldari technique. Inside every check, a delicate kamalam (lotus) motif blooms, adding dimension and intricacy. A vibrant contrast green border and pallu, dyed with natural indigo and marigold, anchors the composition. The border carries motifs inspired by traditional Japanese wave patterns, introducing a subtle rhythm and fluidity. On the pallu, Seigaiha (wave) motifs shimmer in golden zari, echoing the saree’s theme of grace and movement.
This saree was conceptualised, designed and woven by RmKV master weavers.
